Hitzhusen Receives Emerging Artists Award for 2008

Jodi Hitzhusen has been awarded an Emerging Artists Grant from the Saint Botolph Club Foundation for 2008. Her winning proposal was for travel funds to observe and work with two musical groups: the Iona community in Scotland and the Taizé community in France. Both groups write their own music and have successfully instigated group singing in their worship services. Trips are being planned for Spring/Summer 2009.

Voci Angelica trio

Jodi Hitzhusen performs with Voci Angelica Trio, a group of three New England Conservatory trained musicians who have performed as soloists all over the world. The trio, featuring Hitzhusen as soprano vocalist and pianist, Meena Malik as soprano vocalist, and Aristides Rivas as cellist, is available to perform at weddings, funerals, private parties, and other events. Although trained extensively in classical music, the trio is highly versatile and performs a wide variety of styles, from classical to pop.

Handel and Haydn Society, Outreach Quartet

Art-Poem-Music: Body and Soul Volume 2

Art-Poem-Music is a full-circle collaboration between artist Sirarpi Heghinian Walzer, poet Elizabeth Kirschner, and composer Pamela Marshall. Each has been inspired by the others’ work to produce new visual art, 22 new poems, and a new set of songs, titled “Body and Soul Volume 2″ (for flute, cello, piano, and soprano).

Outreach Performances in Sioux City, Iowa

Jodi Hitzhusen performs two outreach performances for the elementary and high school classes of Siouxland Community Christian School in Sioux City, Iowa. Performances will expose listeners to many musical styles and encourage older students to pursue college educations. February 21, 2008 at 9 and 10 AM.
